INTER GROUP COLLABORATES WITH SINGAPORE MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY FOR INAUGURAL ACCOUNTING STUDY MISSION TRIP TO MYANMAR

YANGON, 15 DECEMBER 2014 - Inter Group is pleased to announce its recent collaboration with Singapore Management University (SMU), a premier university in Asia, to organize the institution’s inaugural Accounting Study Mission trip to Myanmar in December 2014. This collaboration not only reflects the heightened interest to leverage on the opportunity to be part of a rapid developing economic frontier, but it also upholds Inter Group’s strong belief that education paves the groundwork for sustained economic growth and improve the lives of individuals.

As one of the pioneering management consultancy firms to establish a foot hold in the Myanmar market, Inter Group have long established relationships with renowned financial institutions, banks of which have been recently granted the preliminary licences, legal and audit firms to provide customised and complete business solutions to all its clients. This is in line with the study mission trip’s key objective – to give the student delegates the right exposure to businesses and investment opportunities in Myanmar, whilst giving them the opportunity to learn pivotal business strategies from leaders of successful companies and institutions. This is made possible with support from Inter Group’s well connected network of business associates. The student delegates had their opportunity to rub shoulders with Myanmar’s most successful tycoon and chairman of Yoma Strategic Holdings - Mr Serge Pun; and the President’s Economic Advisor and Advisor of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) - Prof. Dr. Aung Tun Thet. Other participating companies include Ooredoo, MAPCO, Myanmar Info-Tech, Myanmar Brewery, Shwe Yamone Manufacturing, CityMart, CB Bank, PwC and DKSH.

To mark the success and closure of the 1st Accounting Study Mission trip to Myanmar, Inter Group hosted a dinner event for the student delegates, its business associates and companies that have participated during the study mission trip. This dinner event compliments the trip by providing an extended platform for student delegates to interact with business leaders from the above mentioned companies.

This collaboration comes at a time when Myanmar is opening up its economy to the world and with the strengthening of economic links between Myanmar and Singapore, it will be an eye-opener and better equip the student delegates for Myanmar as in important investment location in the years ahead. It is hoped that through this long-term collaboration between SMU and Inter Group creates an avenue to foster broad-based, creative and entrepreneurial leaders for the knowledge-based economy.
